 Tiburon's
newest nine opened in October, 2002 -- making this one of the best 36-hole
facilities found anywhere. Designed by Aussie legend Greg Norman, this
British links-style golf course, carved out of 800 acres of native Florida
foliage, is fast and true, with no rough and all of the turf maintained
at one-half inch or less. The fairways lined with pine straw instead of
conventional rough, stacked sod wall bunkers and the use of tangerine-colored
coquina sand in the waste bunkers adds a distinctive touch.
Following Norman's philosophy of maximizing the natural allure of the
land, there are no contrived undulations or plant life not native to the
area. Each distinctive element has been carefully integrated to produce
a pleasing atmosphere in which to appreciate the finer aspects of the
game.
